Alondra Arauz Colon, a junior at Sunlake High School, had a busy but fun week with school, softball, and friends. On Monday, she went to softball practice after school as usual. The team practiced drills like 21 outs, around the world, base running, and hitting. After practice, she went home and finished her marine science and US history homework. “It was a long day, but practice was good,” Alondra said.
On Tuesday, Alondra worked on an art project for school. The project was a surreal kind of project, and it included a heart, bull horns, and heart rate monitor lines. Later, she went to Swig with her friends to hang out. After that, she went to softball practice again and worked on hitting. Wednesday was an exciting day because Alondra had a softball game, and her team won. After the game, she practiced her ASL project for school which was for the Night of Songs event. Her song is “Speechless” from the movie Aladdin. “I’m a little nervous, but it should be fun,” Alondra said.
On Thursday, she finished an art project and took a history test at school. After school, she went to Crumbl with her friends to get some cookies and hang out. Friday was calmer, Alondra went to her dad’s pizza shop and spent time with him. She ate some food and brought her new dog, Pickles, since her softball game against Zephyrhills was canceled. “I was sad the game got canceled, but it was nice seeing my dad,” she said. On Saturday, she hung out with a friend at her house and swam in the pool. They also got açaí and Starbucks and later played volleyball. On Sunday, Alondra went to Madeira Beach with her friends and stayed there all day. They got ice cream and Cuban sandwiches before going home late. “It was a really fun day,” she said.
