Jace Willson, a ninth grader at Sunlake High School, had a calm and fairly typical week filled with wrestling practice, schoolwork, and time with friends. As the end of the third quarter gets closer, things are starting to settle down a bit, so the week felt more relaxed than usual.

One of the highlights of Jace’s week was wrestling practice. On Tuesday, he spent the afternoon doing what has become a normal routine after school, heading to the wrestling room to practice with the Sunlake team. Practices usually include drills, conditioning, and time spent working on technique. For Jace, wrestling has become a good way to stay active after school. It has also given him the chance to try a different sport since he already plays football during the fall season. Being part of another team keeps him busy and lets him stay involved in school activities.
Wednesday afternoon was a little more laid back. After school, Jace met up with one of his close friends to play basketball. The two spent about an hour playing a few casual games at a nearby court. For them, it was just a chance to hang out, get some exercise, and take a break from the school week. For Jace, moments like that are a nice way to relax and spend time with friends outside of class.
Of course, schoolwork was still part of the week. Jace had been working on a Spanish project and finally finished it on Thursday. He also wrapped up some Algebra work around the same time. Getting those assignments done meant he didn’t have to worry as much about homework for the rest of the week, which gave him more time to focus on other things.
Outside of school and sports, Jace also made time to give back to the community. Over the weekend, he volunteered by serving at his church. Helping out there is something he enjoys doing, and it’s a simple way for him to stay involved and support others.
Overall, it was a pretty relaxed week for Jace—just a mix of school, sports, friends, and a little bit of community service as the school year continues to move along.
