Outside of school, our Seahawks love and enjoy a wide variety of passions and hobbies. For Tamara “Jessie” Carver, a junior at Sunlake, her passion is working on cars. From simply fixing old parts and changing the oil, to exchanging engines, car maintenance can be a challenging and rewarding activity. Not long ago, Jessie finished working on a 2006 Toyota Corolla and shared that she’s been working on cars “for a little over a year and a half now.” This recently discovered hobby is an exciting and unique activity. Jessie enjoys “the feeling of completing a project and the determination and patience a project brings me.” She is currently focused on cosmetic modifications for her 2016 Honda Civic. Cosmetic changes focus on the appearance of the car rather than the performance of the car. This can include a custom paint job to change the car color or tinting the windows. With big dreams for the future in mind, Jessies plans “to work more on the mechanics of cars over the summer to get some experience for a club I plan on starting up” next school year. Her passion is undeniable and she looks forward to sharing it with other students at Sunlake in coming years.
