It is Breanna Shows’; Sophomore, second year as a student at Sunlake Highschool, Breanna is working diligently working hard to balance both academics and athletics throughout her year in High School, As a sophomore student-athlete on the school’s flag football team, Breanna described the year so far as packed but productive. This short summary of an interview is aimed to provide a glimpse into a week of Breanna’s busy year as both a student, and athlete at Sunlake Highschool.
“Over the week I had flag football practice all week,” Breanna shared. Between drills, conditioning, and team meetings, her schedule has been full. Despite the busy routine, Breanna Shows describes herself as “hard-working,” a trait that helps her manage both school and sports.
When asked how her sophomore year is going so far, Breanna responded “so far it has been going smoothly. Everything’s going pretty well.” Breanna details further that despite the challenges that pop up can be overwhelming, but Breanna always pushes forward and past any obstacles that arise.
Balancing school responsibilities with athletics requires discipline and perseverance. Breanna explains how she stays on top of things: “I leave school a little earlier so I can get ready after getting all my schoolwork done.” Making sure all of her assignments are completed before practice allows her to give her utmost attention towards football and ensure she is able to focus during practice so during future events she is at her best on the field.
However, the experience hasn’t been without its challenges. “Getting into football on time without having a parking spot,” she said is her biggest challenge, noting that transportation and timing can sometimes be stressful. Still, Breanna works through these obstacles to stay committed to her team.
Looking ahead, Breanna is especially excited about an upcoming event. “I’m going to Disney for a flag football tournament for 4 days,” she replied. The tournament will give her the chance to compete, bond with teammates, and represent her school on a bigger stage.
For Breanna Shows, her hard work and dedication are already defining her path through her High School career.
