The Women in STEM Club is a place for students, especially girls, who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. The club gives members a chance to explore their interests, learn new things, and connect with others in a fun and supportive environment.
Junior Cailyn Barnes, joined the club because she wanted to be part of a positive space that encourages curiosity and growth. She was encouraged by friends who saw the club advertised and thought it would be a good idea and a good way to socialize. Cailyn was looking for an environment where she could explore STEM while meeting other students with similar interests and sharing ideas in a stress free space. The club offers a mix of activities that allow students to explore both general concepts as well as more specific STEM concepts. So far this year, members have created posters to put around the school to spread awareness of the club, played STEM-themed Jeopardy with fun categories like holidays or random trivia, and enjoyed snacks at every meeting. Even though there have not been many meetings yet, students already find the club fun and engaging.
Being a part of the Women in STEM Club gives students a chance to gain more knowledge about STEM, improve social skills, and make new friends. The club is both educational and entertaining, which creates a safe and welcoming environment where members can feel confident exploring their interests. Cailyn says the best part of the club is the supportive and stress free atmosphere. She loves how it encourages girls to go after their passions, even in fields some might not think about trying. The Women in STEM Club encourages students to be confident, curious, and inspired, while exploring the world of STEM, making it a space where everyone feels welcome and motivated to learn.
