Some students may want to join dual enrollment to get ahead on college, but they don’t know where to start. Others need help finding what kinds of classes they need to take in order to really understand the field they want to pursue. Helping them is what Dual Enrollment Club is all about. The club was created by Alexandra Mualam; Junior. In regards to why she made the club, Alex stated, “We realized that even after messaging our counselors, we still had questions… We also realized that a lot of people don’t know what dual enrollment is. We wanted to inform them of how to get this free college credit opportunity.” Alex was passionate and willing to take that extra step to help the students at Sunlake High School know how to achieve their college goals, despite the lack of information presented to the average Sunlake student.

Alex and the other club members have a specific way of helping students depending on what they need. She said, “We help students make decisions regarding dual enrollment by truly getting to know them and what they’re interested in.” They ask what courses they’ve taken, and what courses they may want to take in the future. She then mentioned, “We’ll then take that and organize it into a schedule. It’s easy to read and go off of when making course cards. “They help make the process easy for everyone.
Alex is spending her time building the club up to be the best it can be. She, and the other club members aim to make dual enrollment easily accessible to any student. If you want to be a part of Dual Enrollment, find out colleges, or even join the club, visit building 10-207!
